    Hey guys,
I just got another ipad, I dont know what exactly i am going to do with it yet but, i am think second mini desktop screen.
Anyway, I was wondering if the ipad battery needs a couple cycle before it performance reach the 10 that was promised.
the battery on the second one seams to go a little faster, I dont think it would last 10h surfing the web or 10 hours watching movies.
Additionally what the best way to test the batt? queued up 10 hour worth of media? and watch it drain?
and the reason I am suspicious on the unit is because I dont think it entirely new... I am not paranoiac guys, but when i got the ipad (apple store)
it was sealed and everything but a few minor things gave it away (i think)
The plastic wrap around the ipad didnt appear brand new... and the plastic gasket between the aluminum and the glass seams to have been tempered with minor damage and it is not flush at some spots (looks like some one took it apart and didnt do a good job putting it back) and last... there is a minor mark on the aluminum, trace that a tool was used to take it apart... maybe it was in the assembly process... maybe not?
What do you think guys did I get a refurb? The thing that trew me off, it was in a white ipad box... sealed... I am not crazy =) just anal when it comes to my things

It's highly unlikely you received a refurbished iPad at this stage.

In regard to the 'slight mark', if it bothers you take it to the Apple store and ask for a replacement.

    Batt, you are funny LOL
Yea, I thought so too... I seams very unlikely that I got a refurb unit.
But the battery do concern me, the gasket not so much, it bothers me but that that much.
Does the battery improve after a couple of cycles?

You didn't get a refurb, and battery life varies with the individual, but the gasket thing might be a problem. I've seen at least one post about it. I think I'd take it back.

What sort of battery life are you currently getting? I believe they state 'up to' 10 hours of battery life which means you might not actually get 10 hours of battery life depending on your use of the device.

Right up to 10h... here is the thing on my other ipad i was getting 10h ish
same setting same everything... I have not timed the pad yet to get an exact measurement but it appears to drains faster...
Should I just order from apple.com and be sure that way...
Yea the gasket do bother me a little... I install a gelaskin on it and now my skin is raised my a fraction of a millimeter... but with time my skin is gonna come off =(
Arg I don't wanna wait for another one!

Some people don't realize you can have 3G and wifi enabled at once. Naturally, wifi overrides 3G, and having both enabled would use more power, but it can be done. As a rule of thumb, I disable 3G when not required, and when at home use Wifi. The only slight benefit of having both enabled is not having to switch manually when required.
