Looking at getting an iPad 3 for my first ipad, just returned an Android tablet which ran ICS and want nothing to do with Android. Some questions though.

1. I have purchased many apps for my iphone 4, from a search I see I can use every app on the ipad as long as I use the same apple ID. But what if there is an iPad specific version of the app, will the ipad still run it (with stretched graphics) or will it not run the app and require buying the HD version?

2. Is it possible to tab multiple videos? I really liked being able to tab multiple videos on both youtube app and the browser app on the Android. Is this possible on the ipad?

3. Are there any apps that let you simulate widgets without JB? Widgets are by far the best feature on Android. I was thinking, there should be an app that lets you log into your fave sites (fb, twitter, rss reader, ticker) and then just allow you to view all the information. Do these exist?

4. Are all cases universal? Will an ipad 1/2 case work with the 3?

1. I was able to download all the apps I bought on my iPhone onto my iPad.
2. What do you mean?
3. No widgets like android has.
4. iPad 1 cases-no
Some iPad 2 cases will work with the new iPad. Make sure you contact the people you are buying the case from to make sure the new iPad will fit in it, or read reviews on that case.

Any iPhone app will work on the iPad. Some apps are universal (they have a + in the App Store) and contain both the iPhone version and the iPad version in one app (and one purchase). Apps that are not universal can be run either in a small window or stretched to fit the screen.

See screenshot.

The app for Plague Inc. is a universal app that will run in native resolution on both the iPhone and iPad with one purchase. The app for Angry Birds Space will only work on the iPad (as this is the listing for the iPad app). If you want the same app on your iPhone it would require a separate purchase. If you already purchased the iPhone version, you can run it on your iPad, but at the smaller iPhone size or stretched to fit the iPad screen.

By multiple tabs I mean, scrolling thru a website and hold click (to open in backgrund) and have all the videos in que?

Like right now I have multiple youtube video reviews running on a separate firefox window, so when im done responding, I can go back and view each video without needing to buffer each one again.

And widgets, I dont mean a widget widget. But more like an app that you can open which will have multiple feeds.

Just tested the videos, I had four tabs open in safari with different yutube videos, was able to switch back and forth between the videos with them immediately playing.

Score! thank you. If I can do all of that, my laptop might be reduced to even less time.

One last question. Is there an app that will allow me to take quick notes like writing on a post it? I'm talking about having a quick notepad out, which will allow me to physically write out some notes, not type, but write notes with my finger like I was drawing something. I would need this because sometimes I need to take notes while I am driving and receive an important call, writing them out like a post it would be much easier than typing them out. Of course I would be pulled over while doing this.

I use evernote lots of my iphone, can any other non 3G users tell me how it works on the ipad? Will it save everything when im not connected to wifi, then sync automatically when I am connected?

Plenty of apps like this, I use one called notability for my notes in class I write with a stylus, you can still use your finger though.

Will check Evernote right now though.

Definitely check out Note Taker for the iPad. I used it extensively albeit for a brief moment while in school.

From what I know, any iphone app should, by default, run on the ipad (just that some will have stretched graphics). If there is an ipad-specific version (like tapatalk HD, or goodreader for ipad), you will need to purchase the ipad version as well.

Let's use tapatalk as an example. You have it on your iphone, and install it on your ipad free of charge as well. You can continue to use tapatalk on your ipad, and it actually runs pretty well, just that it has a lot of empty space.

Or you can opt to purchase the HD version which purportedly takes better advantage of the ipad's retina display, but it will cost you extra.

Your money, your choice. :)
