I have never owned a Mac, and am thinking of purchasing a MacBook Pro soon. I'm wondering if networking is easy or even possible on a LAN with windows users. I would like to be able to game with friends. Also, do third party mice work with macs? I have a Logitech G5 that I would like to use. Thanks.

Ok, I just logged with basically the same question...

How do I make my Mac Book Pro and runing Windows XP2 to recognize and comunicate (exchange files) with my other 2 Mac computers with Leopard and Panther?

I am using a linksys wireless router and Windows already recognizes.

It is easy, yes you can game, and yes the 3rd party mice will work (make sure it's USB).

1) Being on the same lan: yes, just make sure Mac OS X is set for the right windows Workgroup
2) Gaming... this is highly dependent on what game you want to play. Aspyr ( www.aspyr.com ) ports most games to Mac. Look there and make sure what you want to play supports the mac or you're be disappointed.
3) Yes, 99% of mice work with Macs, though Logitech omits a claim that the G5 will work on Macs. I'm betting not all the advanced buttons will work. If you're worried, go to Best Buy or an Apple store and bring your mouse with you and ask them if you can plug it in and try it.
