Hi guys,

I have a genius appointment set up at 5:30 PM today (1 hour from now) and I wanted to exchange my iPhone 4S because I am appalled at my battery life. I tried restoring the phone and updating but after the update, the battery life is in fact, worse.

My Apple Store does not allow same-day exchanges (need reservation) so I set up a Genius Bar appointment to try to get an exchange.

I wanted to ask you guys what to say to the Genius Bar guy to get an exchange. I have tried repairing it and I have read lots of material on this. I know this is not "fixable" in-store and I do not want a Genius Bar guy to convince me otherwise.

Thanks,

Kevin
what is your normal usage?

I think you're more the problem.

I had a problem with the touch screen on my old iPhone 4 & I received a refurbished replacement. The phone was EXACTLY the same, if not better than it was when I first received the phone brand new.

I hate consumers like you - you're offered something which is perfect free of charge and you complain about it?

But I wasnt offered something for free. Please dont try to make out apple were doing me a favour. They werent. It is within the sale of goods act within the UK that they have to deal with sales faults. Now if it were out of warranty and I had said this then sure youd be right but sorry your not. Read the SOGA

Also - just saying but you didn't have to drive the whole 2 hours return journey. You could have called AppleCare using your FREE phone support and they would have sent a box out so you can return the phone via FREEPOST.

I was on the phone with support this morning at 1030. The help guy made an appointment for me. Even though I said its like an hour each way. He sympathised but said he would like someone to look at the phone. Seeing as this is my first time dealing with apple I followed his advice. He also told me to come back to hm if needed. He was nothing short of what I expected from apple. She in store was not.

The refurbished units are probably better as they're fully checked & any faulty products are replaced. They probably receive more care & attention than brand new units.

not everyone agrees on this and like I said above if it had been months you wouldnt be reaidng this but its weeks and its the Uk not the middel ages.

Don't waste your time complaining to Apple - I disagree with you and I'm sure many others do too.

as im sure many will agree with me so im not put off by your suggestion. sorry I will follow my own instinct on this and I say she was wrong in the way she dealt with me and the things she said.

ps... this isnt even my topic Its getting out of hand. Sorry to the OP

If you don't want to pay wages of someone like her, then you should return your 4s because every Apple product you buy goes to paying the wages of someone like her.

yes but I added once I had got bored of feeling that way I came to realise not everyone is like her.

You forget that she was following company policy. So if you were upset with her for giving you a refurb instead of a new one, then you will come across a lot of Apple Store employees who would do the same thing.

Nah I didnt forget. I mentioned the sale of goods act to her. In the UK you cant rewrite the law to favour yourself. If you offer service above the SOGA then that is fine but if you try to offfer lower or twist it then the SOGA is final.

You should just return it and get an android.
Apple can't satisfy everyone out there and clearly you're one of the troubled customers that are never happy.
