Till Apple makes Ping even remotely useful I will keep my iTunes 10.0.0.68 and enjoy less pointless spam of the same mainstream bands recommending each other.

Here's the other two I found. Turn arrows on, and invert the default from store to local library.

defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-link-arrows -bool TRUE
defaults write com.apple.iTunes invertStoreLinks -bool YES

Now any way to remove Ping from the left sidebar?

Glad to see the combo. Works fine for me.

Wow, fantastic. I've looked around quite a while to find a solution to get the arrows back, but I only found the command line for turning these Ping pulldowns off. Thank you so much!!

I gave iTunes feedback a little more than a week before this update telling them to bring genius back. You're welcome =)

I don't really care about the news, but Pearl Jam, SoundGarden, and Mad Season are all awesome!

+1

Pearl Jam is my favorite band. Im listening to this years bootleg from madison square garden right now! Soundgarden is a close second for me as well.

I use iTunes as a last resort and care for neither Genius nor Ping (both off would be a good option) and, if you're already in iTunes, does it really need to be named 'iTunes Sidebar' or 'Sidebar', or even need a name at all?

Remove those bloody annoying Ping buttons next to each track:
In Terminal:

defaults write com.apple.itunes hide-ping-dropdown -bool YES

Press return, then quit and relaunch iTunes.

Unfortunately, it also removes the iTunes Store arrows, which I do like having available to help me to skip around my library via

defaults write com.apple.iTunes InvertStoreLinks -bool YES

(Alternatively, you can option+click on the arrow.)

Now if only I could work out how to get Ping out of my sidebar.

BlueRevolution-
Do the ping button removal then follow milo's pointer:

No ping sidebar (right) and arrow buttons go to your library.

Enjoy.

Glad to see this. I was kind of ticked when I couldn't find a way to re-enable it by myself after they added Ping. Personally, I'll take the Genius sidebar over the Ping sidebar any day. But perhaps it will be better in the long run with this combination bar.
