Geo-Tagging, The stalkers best friend

I try not to use things that show my current location all that much.

But if someone downloads a photo off Facebook and finds out that once, in the past, I was at the movie theater... well...ok. I really can't imagine how that's gonna come back to hurt me in any way.

I think your mom's overreacting.

Exactly.

I see a lot of things like this in the news.

The only thing I wouldn't do is Geotag photos at my house - specifically any that showed something valuable.

I always assumed that Facebook stripped the meta data. This story makes it seem like Facebook doesn't.

I don't think it worries me that much because I'm a guy. If I was a women I'd probably be me paranoid about stalkers.

To be clear, when I was talking about it I meant what I usually do is make a Flickr or MobileMe gallery and then post a link to that on Facebook.

I call that "putting it on Facebook," it seems.
