Well I'm getting it for Christmas, but should I wait for the new on? I heard it's going to be a new design, and this is going to be my computer for the next 4 years..

Basically what I'm asking is what will I miss out, and does it really matter.
Also, is the 4GB of RAM enough for me? All I do is surf the net, play NeoPets and stuff. But something that concerns me is that I play a game called Mabinogi http://mabinogi.nexon.net/Support/client.aspx.

Is it going to run smoothly on it?

You'll be waiting 6-8 months for a new Ivy Bridge processor. No guarantee of a redesign. 4GB RAM is enough for what you do, but you can always upgrade it yourself for around $25-$40 to 8GB. I'd get it now, no point in waiting. They were just refreshed 2 months ago.

I always buy what I need, when I need it. It's useless to chase the next update, since you never know when it will be or what will be included. Besides, anytime you buy, there will always be a new update coming.

The world is going to end in 2012, buy what you can now.

Not until after The Hobbit comes out in December, so the OP has plenty of time to enjoy the new one, and it will still be under AppleCare in case he survives the end times.

That said, the current MBP is a great machine. The 2012 version will undoubtedly be better in some ways. Perhaps not as good in others. You might be surprised to find that newer doesn't always mean better :)

Anyhow, same advice as always. Get it if you need it. Wait if you don't.

Not me! I'm holding out for the 2013 model! (also known as the "0000" model, after the calendar gets reset!) :D

It will have 4 transistors, no screen, and run on either fire or wind power :D

Gotta start somewhere after the apocalypse.

Most likely, it won't be a Mac, but rather a Microstone computer!

Right. Apple will need a few more month, but then revolutionize the market with the new iStone.
