do they charge tax/shipping? that could make amazon's price just as competitive. also, if a person is really in college, leopard should be much cheaper at the student bookstore (~$70).

Yeah well they charge $5 shipping for the Single User, the Family Pack appears to have free shipping, and they charge tax based on whatever state you order from. I was originally thinking more for people who have a CompUSA near them, but I just noticed it says "Delivery Only". As for Amazon, the shipping is only free if your willing to wait longer. :)

Rebates ftl though.

Are they as good as Staples when it comes to rebates?

And I work for the Department of Redundancy Department :)

Sorry, couldn't resist. I like the sound of $30 off though, that gives a better price than the Educational Discount. Which my local CompUSA honors.... interesting!

  2. Fill out this form completely. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. Keep copies of all materials placed in the envelope, inquiries will not be accepted without copies of all materials sent.
  3. Please copy this entire rebate form and sales receipt on same 8 by 10 page when possible and mail to the address above.

But what does "Purchase select Apple Mac OS 10.5 Leopard Software at CompUSA between 10/26/07 at 6 PM through 10/27/07" mean if you order it online?

College Bookstores Sell It For $69

CompUSA just sent me an email, they are offering Leopard Single User for $99, and Family Pack for $169.99 after $30 Mail-In rebates. Just thought I'de let you guys know. It's only $10 less than Amazon, but hey if someone is really on a budget (or in college :)) 10 bucks can make a difference :)
Most College Bookstores are selling it for $69. I found 4 in my immediate area and all will take my college ID from a different school and sell it to me for that price. Phone around and I'm sure you'll be able to buy it for $69 that way.

Don't be an ass, ass.

Truth be told I work at CompUSA #461 in Metairie, LA and I've known about this since Sunday, but with no rebate to link to I didn't think it was worthwhile posting about.
I meant nothing personal, just being funny :). Besides I apologized, I didn't notice that Q merged our posts. Sorry

The product page now says "sold out" instead of "pre-order". Perhaps they reserved only a certain amount of inventory for web sales. There still seems to be no way to tell whether or not the $30 rebate applies to pre-orders.

Darn I just did a search for the closest CompUSA to me and they said it was in Des Moines. I live in Kansas City (180+ miles away). Oh well, guess I'm going to the Apple Store after all.

Another CompUSA website update. You can order it once again. And it's been confirmed that the rebate applies to pre-orders if you e-file your rebate request.

I think I'll get Leopard at CompUSA today because $30 off is a pretty good deal.

I finally got my $30 from CompUSA in the mail. :)

That wasn't very swift (October to January), but that's one of the games they always play with rebates. At least they made good on their rebate offer.
