Could anyone assist me here? I'm looking at purchasing either one of these models. Do any of you have a preference one over the other? I'd really like to be able to take it with me, but if the iMac is alot better I can sacrafice that.

i think you answered your own question. if you want to take it with you, get the macbook and get a external 20" monitor on the cheap for when your at home.

That might work well in theory but I only am looking to purchase either items, no screen or anything. Thats all that I can afford right now.

With that being said, would you still say the same thing?

Performance should be comparable, if not the same. I agree - get a MB, and an external monitor, if needed.

Not really. The MB has a laptop hard drive, and more importantly, integrated graphics. If you're looking to do things like play games or work with video, the iMac would be a much better choice. If those things aren't important to you, then I agree with the suggestion to get a MB.
