Good luck with the GameCube. One of the ladies in my office got one for her children, and they absolutely love it. It is not for me, but from what I have seen and heard, it is a very nice system. Enjoy!

X-box is overrated

A friend of mine out here in Seattle works for uncle bill over in redmond and got an xbox and a ton of games really cheap. The graphics on that things are damn sweet compared to the other consoles, but I really thought the gameplay was off. Didn't like the controllers, and though techinically the games were cool, it wasn't like playing games on my old NES. It is almost like the game developers for this thing are just overwhelmed with all the toys and stuff with the fast CPU and nvidia GPU, but they spent all their time making cool fog effects and rich textures, rather than making the games fun...Too bad, it has potential, but I don't think it will ever get there...

Update.

Well, I've had it for a couple days now, and I really like it. The controller took a bit to get used to, but after a while it became second nature.

The graphics are amazing! Transparency, shading, shadows, reflections, its got it all.

I have two games: Luigi's Mansion and 007. Anyone ever go to the haunted mansion at Disney World? Thats what Luigi's Mansion is like. And the character realism in bond is outstanding. The bong girls' jumbleys are so lifelike! Amazing!

I know I said I don't like kill type games, but 007 is the one game I do like to play (I loved the one on N64). The only problem is games like that make me a nervous wreck!!! I'm one of those people who moves the controller around and sticks my tongue out in a desperate attempt to avoid getting killed while playing those types of games. Can't be good for my blood pressure.

So to sum up: graphics are good, gameplay is good, and I'm enjoying the games I've got. I think it was worth it. I give it the Taft recommendation (for whatever thats worth). Now I'll just wait impatiently for Zelda...

Again, thanks for your help.
