While I won't be subscribing to this bundle, I do like that ESPN is now available as a streaming service. I like watching gate College Football playoffs and every year I would have to get one of the streaming services for just the month of January. Now I can just buy ESPN for $30 for the month.

I'm more worried about what the Disney bundle will look like and cost if/after the fuboTV merger is completed and that replaces the Hulu+Live TV service. I watch a lot of sports, so I'm used to ad breaks.

Streaming was offered to be a better alternative to cable. Cut the cord?

Now they turned into the very thing they swore to destroy
Streaming was offered as a way for people who only watch one or two shows a way to save money by not having to buy an entire cable package but just pick the one or two channels that they watch. While prices have gone up recently, it’s still way cheaper than cable for those who only need a few channels. For those who watch a ton of different channels, cable might still be a better option.

The messaging on this by ESPN has been an absolutely jumbled mess. So much misinformation going around (even from the Hulu bundle website itself) about costs and what is included. These are the result of that messaging blunder:

None of the previously existing bundles will include ESPN Unlimited. Anyone previously with ESPN+ will be disappointed. ESPN+ legacy subscribers are receiving the newly renamed "ESPN Select" service.

ESPN Unlimited is above and beyond ESPN Select/ESPN+ and includes access to all ESPN channels regardless of whether a streaming provider offers it with their subscription, as well as additional NFL games/content and all WWE PLE's beginning 9/20/25, with more content still to be announced. This will be a long row to hoe but anyone commenting on how they don't like sports really don't have to worry about what sports fans will be clamoring to pay to potentially "unbundle" themselves from streaming providers like Sling TV and cable that they were keeping around because they couldn't get ESPN and it's family of channels without it.
I was going to comment something similar. I updated ESPN on all of my devices and logged into my YouTube TV on them all.

it looks like I can still do a quad box and have access to everything that was showing, but I wonder what I’m missing out on.

I have the D+, Hulu and ESPN+ legacy bundle.

would prefer not to have to upgrade and pay more for ESPN Unlimited.

ESPN paying outrages money for contracts and just passing cost down to the consumer that has little choice to take it or leave it. Sports viewing or going getting out of control. Now in bed with nfl and sure games will be there someday. Guess already have with nfl network.

UK TV Licence fee @ £174.50 annual = £14.60 / monthly = US$19.75 delivers 3 main BBC channels without ads plus access to many more from others with ads.

At last, something less expensive on this side of the pond! And, dare I suggest, better quality overall ;)

#justsaying

Amazon Prime/Netflix/AppleTV etc also available if you don't get out much ...
Does the license include streaming on demand, though? The value seems a lot less if it's only live, except for news channels.
I agree with you on quality; I cycle through BritBox and AcornTV a couple of times a year, as addons on Prime.

Friendly reminder that disabling hardware acceleration in tandem with blockers will remove pesky interruptions for browser viewing.

Yes, using a variety of apps, including the BBC iPlayer which enable all but a few to be streamed on demand.

(Listen to a lot of radio from the Beep and would recommend the BBC Sounds app which I believe works worldwide. That delivers both streaming and current broadcast. Start with BBC4 for talk, BBC 1,2,3 & 6 for music.)

Should also confess that we do also enjoy the scheduled programming - and like the idea that 'Monday is quiz night' ;)

But Binge Watching of series is possible. Sometimes do that, especially to 'catch-up' with the early series when we stumble on the later series then on current broadcast.

My wife and I keep slowly but surely cutting subscriptions. We are tired of paying monthly fees and it can really nickel and dime you to death.

I don't see this as a good deal unless you don't have cable tv or another live tv streaming service such as Youtube Tv. Even then ESPN doesn't have all the sports televised.
I just switched from Verizon to US Mobile for a BOGO promotion on annual service. I had totally forgotten that I had Hulu, Disney and ESPN through Verizon even though I calculated that in my initial comparisons.

My wife’s the big streamer in my household and she tried to browse Hulu a day ago, then asked why it wanted her to sign in. I explained why we were no longer subscribed & she shrugged and found a show we’d already started to watch on TV+.

For $30 /month it’s better for my household to just rent a movie for $2-$20 every few months. I’m sure this bundle is a deal for someone… but that someone ain’t us.

Not Apple related. Not a deal. Why is this here? I get you need to make affiliate money, but maybe this isn’t the way.
Purely my opinion that no one asked for but I see it as tangentially related. A lot of us have Apple TV boxes or apps on our devices and already pay for some of these services.

The charger and battery pack sales announcements could be seen as just as loosely Apple related. They aren’t necessarily built for Apple devices, but lots of us use them.

There are far worse ways for sites to make money. Non-skippable, autopay video ads that follow you up and down the site as you scroll, redirects, etc. These posts aren’t the best but imagine what they could be replaced with 😱.

All that said, to each their own. Your opinion has merit regardless of mine.
