Hi all,

I have a late 2012 iMac with Bluetooth 4.0 but it doesn't work with Apple Watch unlock. Is there anything that can be done or is it simply a case of accepting defeat?

Not sure what it uses for unlock. But, I couldn’t get my watch to unlock my 2012 either

It needs Bluetooth 4.0 and AC WiFi. The late 2012 has the former, but not the latter. There is an iFixit to replace the card (a lot of work), but I’d rather see if there is an external USB AC card that can do the same?

My 2013 MBP unlocks fine since I replaced the original wireless card with the AC-version of the same. I do not have any AC wifi access points at home, though.
