I was on the Apple app and it says you can select the phone you want and “lock it in”. So is it just setting up the cart so you just hit submit when preorders start Friday? Also, you can only do this if you use apple month plan to pay. I want to pay in full. Anyone know if i selected that and then still paid off in full in a month if that’s allowed?

If I preorder as soon as preorders start, is it typically easy or are there glitches and such? I haven’t done this in a while and hoping to get one when they get delivered on the 23rd!

Thanks

Just a question on my mind.
I live in Chicago 10 mins from 2 Apple Store. Should I wait and buy it on the 23rd or Pre Order this Friday?

I do not mind get up early to wait in line anyway? Any thoughts?

To make sure you get what you want I'd preorder. But you can do a hybrid! Pre-order this Friday for store pickup on the 23rd :)

Why do we have to do a monthly plan? If I choose it, any reason why I can’t pay it off in a month?
You don't have a do a monthly plan. There are options to also just pay all at once.

But then it wouldn’t let me “get ready”. I guess I will just hop on 5am Friday and order. I did a “get ready” with a monthly plan but I have a gift card I wanna use so I’m just gonna pay in full and Hope the order goes through smoothly.

I’m also not able to “lock it in” with the pay all at once option. Is this just some marketing gimmick to get people to sign up for Apple credit cards?

Appears to be. I did the lock it in but don’t plan on doing it. Just gonna do it from scratch on Friday so I can use a gift card and pay in full. Hopefully app or site works well!

They're incentivizing their payment plans (iUP and Financing) in a somewhat discrete way.
I don't think this is intentional; it seems like a glitch. On the Apple website, it says you can lock in with Apple Card Monthly installments. Those don't even show up as an option for me. "Pay in full" is grayed out, monthly installments don't even show up, and "Apple iPhone Payments" is the only option that lets me proceed past the phone selection page. This is financing that you have to apply/run a credit check for; it's different than the Apple Card installments.

I would pre-order this friday. If you have time today, maybe go to the apple store and ask what their procedures is on 10/23/2020. Due to the COVID-19, i'm sure most apple store will have a protocol.

IMO I'd rather pre-order and have it deliver it to me. Don't want to get risk of getting COVID just for a phone.

You'll be able to. That's my plan.

I also live in Chicago, but that doesn't matter. Pre Order, if your shipping is not next Friday then go to store.

I am ordering for my son, who is also on my Verizon account. I went through the preorder process on the app. but when it got to the carrier it confirmed my phone number, with no option to change it. Looks like I'll just do via browser tomorrow 5AM PDT.

This whole "get ready for preorder" is jacked up.

I want to pre-order an iPhone for my wife, and pay for it with my Apple Card. I can't do it on my phone with the Apple Store App because it just assumes I'm the one that is upgrading and it uses my phone number.

I can't do it on her phone, because the Apple Card is in my name, and apparently I can't use that as a payment method on her phone. She doesn't want to apply for an Apple Card.

It's also irritating that they force you into the monthly payment plan. I'm not even sure how that works - will it just ping your apple card with a monthly charge, or will it all go on there at once. If the former, you wouldn't be able to pay it off in a month. At this point, I'm inclined to just pay for it with a different card and be done with it.

I wanted to pay with my Apple card to get the 3% cash back. Maybe if I pre-order via apple.com I can put the apple card in as a payment option.

Very confused about which monthly payments you all are talking about. The option for monthly "Apple iPhone payments" has nothing to do with Apple Card. It's financed through Citizens One, and you're essentially applying for a separate loan. This is the only option that shows up for me other than paying in full.

Does anyone actually see the option to pay using monthly Apple Card installments on the preorder page? Am I the only one it's missing for? It shows up online, but not in the Apple Store app.

To answer your question, the way the Apple Card installments work is that it just automatically adds the monthly amount to your Apple Card bill. It deducts the full amount from your available balance, however. So if you have 5000 available credit, it would go down to 4000 after your purchase, but you would only pay $50 each month, with no interest on the remaining amount. You do have the option of paying it off early from your Wallet.

Have you tried using your apple card number (actually entering all the CC numbers to the order) on her phone?

You can pay off the monthly installment plan early, I checked with Apple Card support. The monthly installment plans are also interest free if paid off in 24 months. They also give you instant credit for any trade-in. For me, the Apple Card is a lot better than some other CC's that I have, I'm happy with it.
