im trying to get the little red counter ontop of the mail dock icon to show up and update the amount of unread mail while the mail app isnt running.

I dont know if this is possible or not, and i have searched the forum but nothing was related to what i wanted specifically. Can anyone help me, would be greatly appreciated 🙂!

I don't believe it is possible. However, there are several utilities to tell you if you have new mail in your menubar.

Not possible. Imagine how you would do that... To find out what to put in that red counter it would need to connect to the mail server and read the information there. Or it would need to connect and download the mail, sort it, despam it, etc. and update it.

Sounds like it should run to me...

I am trying to find something similar, except that it runs in the menu bar instead of the dock. The gmail notifier works great but doesn't do pop mails.
