I currently have a Pixel 2 XL, I don't regret buying it as I'd never experienced Android before. However whilst it's a great phone it's not for me for various reasons.

I'm now heading back to iPhone but I'm not sure whether to just pick up an X now, or wait another month or two for the September iPhones.

Usually I'd be in the 'wait' camp, but my decision is a little harder because:
a) Right now I can sell my Pixel for about £400, which will obviously drop leading up the the Pixel 3 announcement.
b) From all of the rumours, I haven't seen anything to suggest any significant upgrades from the next iPhones, compared to the iPhone X (apart from screen size but I want the 5.8"). All I've seen is faster processor (not even sure how you can get faster than the X!), and faster LTE; I haven't even seen anything about the camera, will that even get any upgrade on the 5.8" model?

Anyone have any opinions or in a similar predicament?

The new models will be out in 6 weeks. I am pretty sure they will get a spec bump in camera too. I would wait...

I would wait. I’m not sure there will be much difference. But if there is you’ll most likely regret it. And it’s rumored to be $100 cheaper then the current X.

Wait, X price come down to $700 after launch.

Yes It will probably be the same day as the launch as carriers like to not discount phones till the last possible minute and I am sure only apple stores will discount them and not apple.com.

I'm anxious to see what Apple introduces this year. My wife and I both have 6S Plus phones and they are fully paid off so it's nice to have minimal (relatively speaking) cell phone bills. The phones work fine and have plenty of memory so upgrading would not be worthwhile unless there is really something significant that the new phones would be providing.

The new X will have a newer cpu/gpu, hopefully camera improvements, faster lte, 4gb of ram and a new gold option... Anything more would be a bonu. I’d wait if you possibly can

It depends of what changes you’re specifically seeking for the 2018 iPhone X. In terms of the 5.8 model, I’m willing to believe camera upgrades, Face ID improvements, display tweaks, processor/co-processor upgrades, etc. I doubt anything major will be to the 2018 5.8 iPhone X model, so perhaps you may not appreciate the incremental upgrades this year and perhaps the 2017 5.8 iPhone X will suit you more appropriately.

Wait. You may regret it if you don’t.

On the camera point, Apple has upgraded the camera in every iPhone release since the iPhone 3G. The x/8+ is extremely similar in specs to the 7+ camera, but due to a change here and there gets even better shots. The zoom lens could still use some refining which I’m sure will happen.

But the bigger issue is: If you wait you have zero chances of regret. You can see the specs of the new model, reviews, camera comparisons, and decide yourself. The original X will only get cheaper.

Should I give my answer to this question now, or wait til it's asked again next week? Or the week after?

I am on the same boat and I am waiting but I might regret waiting as well. Here’s my thought process:

I want the 5.8 one and when the new X comes out, the current X will drop in price. And I believe Apple will stop selling the current X when the new ones come out. So the only way to get the current X New is through channels such as Best Buy or carriers but even then they might not be selling those anymore. Why would I want a new first gen X?

AppleCare- if I want an X for the lowest price possible and want to buy AC with it, I don’t think I can do it when the new phones are announced... so what should I do then? Wait or not wait? Cause for sure the new X will cost more than the current X once the price drops for the current one

Probably now since You’re replying in this thread without any real substance to your post. And by waiting later, its that much closer to the keynote, but as you can see with all the other advice in this thread, the suggestion is likely to wait out the seven weeks until September Keynote, in which it might be worth waiting to see version two of the X, and what discounts or price slashes if any.

Rumoured pricing alone is enough to make it worth waiting. Six or seven weeks of impatience now is much easier to deal with than 1-2 years of niggling regret that you didn’t wait.

Now that we are this close to the launch of the new phones, it's better to wait and see how things pan out, then make you decision.
