I can’t say I wasn’t a little tempted by the space black 14” MBP sitting there in the demo area. I almost caved, but I really would rather have an M3 Max or M3 Ultra Mac Studio as opposed to an M3 MBP.
Haha that space black is S E X Y!!! I think you made a great call :) I have an M1 MBP for work and honestly I can't tell a difference day to day between it and my M1 Pro MBP. Apple Silicon is ridiculously great.

How are you liking it so far?
well my primary laptop was the same 13 mbp but the base model with 8gb ram and 256 ssd. so this is a needed spec update. I was on the market for a new one since the release of the m3 mbp's but this gave the perfect combination and price and for the laptop I like to use. I like Touch Bar (idk why people hate it) and the battery life is insane. soo very happy with the purchase.

After weighing the differences and considering that I want to use this computer for many years, I opted to go for the 14” M3 Pro MBP with 18 GB RAM. While the larger RAM and storage specs of the M2 for less money is a very good deal, I think 18GB of RAM is plenty for my needs and the addition of MagSafe, an additional Thunderbolt port (functionally two additional when you consider you use a Thunderbolt port on the M2 when you use the laptop while charging) and HDMI added a lot more flexibility for a variety of situations. The larger screen will be very nice, 13” feels a little too small. Then throw in niceties like the mini LED XDR display and brighter SDR, improved webcam, better speaker setup, etc. and the price difference felt justified over the M2.

The $200 savings on the M3 Pro model isn’t the biggest discount in the world but it’s something and my current MBP, the 13” 2020 Intel i5 model, needs a battery replacement anyway, so the time to do it was now.

I still think anyone who needs the bulked up RAM and storage and doesn’t need all the extras of the M3 models should absolutely grab that M2 while it’s still available at the sale price.

btw 24gb 1tb model is now 1399. and I asked for a refund and they said they will be refunding my card for 100$ since I paid 1499 plus tax. this is even better.

$1299 if you are a Best Buy Plus member. I’ll be calling later to get my account credited the $100 as well. Great deal that is even better…the M2 is noticeably faster for me and hit over 10,000 on Geekbench 6 MC, 2500 points higher than my M1. Yeah, I know it’s a synthetic benchmark, but I will take it.

Damn, I was on the fence and placed an order for an M2 Air with 16gb RAM/256 but will cancel it and get this one instead. For around $200 more this is a better computer for my student son that uses ArchiCAD which sucks lots of memory. Maybe BB will drop another $100 later if they are having a hard time moving inventory. ;)

If you’re a Best Buy Plus member that extra $100 off sure makes it irresistible. Best Buy credited my account for the extra $100 I paid earlier this week, so I’m ecstatic. I only had a few things installed, but it flew through everything I was throwing at it.

Yes, I applied to be a member. I received that $100 but I'll get $50 because it costs the same for the membership. Maybe they will drop the price again if they are not moving inventory.
I was originally on the fence because it's an old design, and I heard many people dislike the Touch Bar. Anyway, this should be a good laptop for the next 3 years or so for his architecture studies.
