macOS Gettext or NIB Files

Hi there,

I was wondering if it is better to use gettext instead of the .nib-File translation.
Does anyone know the advantages of gettext?
And - how is the Mac Operating System localized? Is it correct that the locales are stored in XML-files? Which technique uses these locales?
