Getting a 'Could not read from Device' Error when trying to update to iOS 8.1.2

I've been trying to upgrade my iPad to iOS 8.1.2, but all it says is that it can't read from the device, and does not allow me to update. There is no more information about the error.
I've tried all the steps (restart iPad and computer, redownload IPSW, use another USB port, take out all the other USB devices except for the iPad, etc) to try to get this problem fixed, but there has been no change.

Hopefully somebody can help me out here, because clearly I am out of ideas.

What do you mean by "redownload IPSW" ?

Have you tried to update it from general settings ?

And why are you trying to do a restore ?

1. As in, I tried getting the IPSW directly from iTunes. Not that it actually makes any difference.
2. No, I shall try that.
3. I usually like to just start out fresh when updating.

Never mind, got it fixed. It was a pretty easy fix, thank god.
