    Hey everyone,
I'm planning on getting a 5S whenever they get shipped out and I was wondering if I could use my jailbroken 4S iTunes backup to restore to the 5S and if so, would that cause any problems? I can't seem to see a definitive answer on whether or not jailbreak data is contained in an iTunes backup.

(Also is it worth keeping a JB so the 4S could be resold as a jailbroken phone?)

Although its common that there's usually small remnants of the jailbreak left in the backup, it usually won cause any problems. I'd keep the 4S jailbroken for now and depending on who you sell it to you can advertise its jailbroken or restore to stock before you actually hand it off.

As I understand it (and I will most certainly be corrected if I am wrong) an iTunes backup stores data from all installed apps including all your jailbroken apps and tweaks as well as the apps (non-jailbreak apps) themselves. But restoring from that backup to a non-jailbroken device will mean you do not have access to that data or the JB apps.

You may encounter certain problems because of that.

Also, as I understand it, a jailbroken iPhone is more likely to sell for more than a non-jailbroken device. At the very least the buyer would have the option to upgrade to the latest version of iOS, whereas if you updated it before selling a jailbreak would not be an option for the buyer.
