    Hey everybody,

I'm getting a new iMac this week but I'm selling my old iMac tomorrow. Is there a way I can use my Time Machine disk to sync my files to my new iMac? Or do I really have to put everything manually on the disk?

    Thank you,
    Mxim

If you use the restore DVD that came with it you can do a restore from a Time Machine disk. See "Migration with Style" on the Apple product page.

You can read about the experience here.

    Um...

just back up your entire hard drive and then restore to the new one. If you haven't changed any settings, it's already doing that.

Any way you can swap the order of purchase/sale? Because then you could just migrate your mac with a firewire cable.

I realize money may prevent this, but perhaps you can find a bridge for a day or two.

If the old iMac is PPC and the new one is Intel, see here
