Getting a replacement from Apple Store - questions...

    I still have 2 months of AppleCare on my 3GS, would any of the following issues qualify for a replacement?

    A lot of dust under screen
    Very loud rattle (not the camera auto focus)
    Bad 3G signal (friend gets 5 bars, I only get 3, same network, same phone)

    Also, if I do get a replacement, would it be on 4.2.1? (kinda what I am hoping for)

    Here is what I would do:

    Put your iPhone under directly under a lamp and inspect the back side of the phone.

    If you find any hairline cracks on it, it will be your ticket to get a replacement.

    Tell the Genius that you found hairline cracks on the phone and that you're worried they might get bigger over time and eventually crack.

    You should then be asked if you want a replacement

    Good advice. I got mine replaced telling the same thing.
