Getting an iPhone

I'm planning to get an iPhone 3G this weekend. I'm on a Tmobile contract for another year, so I plan to buy it, and cancel my contract in a month. Im waiting for my BestBuy reward zone certificates to arrive, and I'm going to get it at bestbuy. I have a few questions though.

1. Can I activate my iPhone at home, so I don't have to pay the $30 activation?

2. Can I just get the $70 contract, or am I required to buy a data plan with it?

3. I have an iPod touch, can I put all my apps on the iPhone, or am I going to have to buy them again?

1. You can't activate at home.

2. The monthly bill is $70 with the data plan

3. Yes, you can transfer your apps

4. The iPhone 3G is not compatable with T-Mobile's 3G network (you'll have to use EDGE for Data)

5. I don't think you can use a coupon on the iPhone.

Wow, is ATT that powerful? I requested a voice plan only 30 bucks/month without data with Fido - Canada for the iPhone and they gave me that. Blocked the data to prevent high data fees and using Wi-Fi.

Yes, they are. You must have the data plan when you get a standard iPhone account. If you use an iPhone on their network without using an iPhone plan (like, if you already had a voice-only account cheaper), they will add the $30 a month for data when they see you are using an iPhone. You will be forced to pay it.
