Getting Applecare free with education discount?

When did this happen? My friend just bought a Macbook Pro and he somehow got apple care free with it? Is that even possible?

Check the receipt. For an additional $265.00 they include AppleCare for free 🙂

Technically that additional three years isn't AppleCare. AppleCare is the combination of three years of extended warranty and three years of phone support.

By this definition, when you buy a computer, it comes with one year of warranty, not one year of AppleCare.

If you access the US Apple Student site, Apple care is $183 for 13" MBP / MBA vs the $249 that it costs full retail... Not Free, but I'll take the $75 off 🙂

Yeah I know... but being a college kid doesn't come cheap lol. I've seen friends get lucky with employees who just go derp heres free apple care!
