I wanted a timer, a simple timer, for my iPhone 3G, and so I went looking, and found a couple of them, went to the web pages, and viewed them in iTunes, but after spending a good deal of time in both I could not find any way to actually GET the app.

I found this:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/alarm-clock-4-free/id406141511?mt=8

This particular timer was massively overloaded with features and did far more than I wanted it to, or would ever need it to, but it was free, so I decided to try and get it. But after looking at the page for a long time and clicking all possible links in it, I still could not find any possible way to get it and install it on my phone.

I'm afraid I just don't understand the process of getting an app and putting it on my phone, and apparently there is some simple thing that has flown right over my head here. I should mention I am very new to iPhones, and have only had mine for a week or so.

In both the web page and in iTunes I could find out all about the app, read the numerous reviews of it, and get every imaginable bit of information about it, but I could not actually GET THE APP.

Perhaps I'm a bit behind the curve here, but that all seems rather self-defeating.

Can someone please clue me in?

You get them via itunes on your Pc/Mac or the app store on the iphone itself. You cannot buy them via the web.

You will need a itunes account.

As it happens I do have an iTunes account, and there was no way on either the web page or in iTunes to actually GET the app. I'm still stumped here. Can it really be this hard? Also, it's a *free* app, so I don't need to buy it, I should rather think I just need to download it and install it on my phone, but apparently that's not so simple a matter.

Free or not, you'd still need an account. Just so it recognizes that you've "purchased" the app, free or not.

You need to use the APP STORE app on your phone and search for it there, then just download it by hitting install.

You have to click on the "view in itunes" or "free app" icon tab.// OR, here it is in app store.
I can click on your link above in first post and download it. When you try that, does it still say; view in itunes? or, Free app?
