getting apps to install on iphone

got new iphone5, registered new apple ID on itunes. Purchased new apps and dowloaded but now they will not install?? When i select 'install' the icon says ' will install' and thats that. If i sync nothing happens.
Can anyone suggest why?

Did you click apply? Make sure your itunes is set to sync apps with your iphone. um.....restore your iphone? It should just sync no problem.
