I get you. I ordered a S21 Ultra yesterday and I'll see how that goes. I've always enjoyed tech, especially phones, so I might keep both phones and swap between them.

Getting bored with iPhone 11 Pro Max

Will I be shooting myself in the foot if I upgrade now or is the 12 Pro Max pretty future proof for a while?

I know any talk of an iPhone 13 is just rumor at this point .
I fail to understand what you could possibly be bored with. It's a really nice phone. By the time it not having 5G matters (a la iPhones original through 4s not having LTE being eventually kicked off cellular networks), it will have stopped receiving iOS updates for at least four years. Also, if you're talking about discarding a one year old phone because you're bored of it, what's the point of future proofing?

it's a phone! it does nothing to entertain you. if you're bored, download some games. learn something new on it. a new phone isn't gonna make you less susceptible to boredom, except briefly.

jumping from "ooh shiny" to "ooh shiny" isn't gonna make you feel better about yourself.

No, at this point with the things people are able to discern from supply chain movement we can be almost absolutely certain that apple is releasing 4 iPhones, in September, two pro and one mini, 120hz screen likely on at least the pro... I can go on but you've already read the rumors.

Just don't expect anything that folds and has 6g and 24 hour battery life.
I know right, take up a new hobby wth it’s a phone jeeez. Start working out, do yoga, lift weight.

At this point in time HOLD OFF on purchasing, later this year they'll release the 13 Pro Max no doubt, that'll be a 2 gen skip ahead, not worth the replacement to the 12 Pro max right now!

I got bored of my 12 mini, got a S21 after only a week I had enough of the fingerprint reader (I have quite dry skin). Today I got a 12 Pro.. Didn't even want to wait for the S21 to sell.

Was thinking of waiting for the 13 as we are half way through the cycle, but if I'm this frustrated with the S21 after a week, no chance I'll last 6 more months.

It’s the same phone in a slightly different package. I can’t imagine how upgrading would make you less bored unless you enjoy staring at new toys.

For better or worse, the phone has become one of the most used pieces of tech in our daily lives. Some people just don't care and see it as a tool to get stuff done, some people like me get tired of seeing the same iOS day in and out, and feel like a change time to time. Even a newer iPhone with a different form factor can do a lot to 'freshen' things up.

Though in my case I get curious to see where Android and other manufactures are at, but always end up coming crawling back. Though usually not after only a week..

Really cannot go wrong in trying something new, life is too short to be stuck to one sort of thing all the friggin time, I jump between my iPhone and Android regularly, although the iPhone is my main device I do like to sometimes put it down for a few hours and just enjoy a different experience.

Save your money and wait for the 13 . You waited to late In the cycle to upgrade

if you keep on upgrading phone every year obviously you will feel bored as the new phones doesnt wow you as there wont be many differences. Instead keep changing cases/wallpapers/font sizes and few other display settings.

upgrading every 3 years is the way to go to feel the difference of a new phone

I really can’t imagine there is a huge difference between an 11PM and a 12PM in all honesty. There’s certainly very little difference between a standard 11 and 12. I wouldn’t waste the money at this point.

If you haven’t upgraded to the latest software, you can jailbreak your 11 Pro Max and customize it to your liking. My 12 Pro Max is jailbroken and every week I change the font, wallpaper, theme and a host of other things. My phone feels new all the time. If you can’t do that, I would wait for the 12S/13 and see what it offers compared to your 11 Pro Max.
