Thanks for mentioning that at the start.

It sounds as though you need to re-install to get the languages back in sync and wait for whatever tool to be working on Intel machines until you try it again.
The thing is I reinstalled the languages already. I got back all of the non-english languages I removed... English is just defunct in native apps like finder, sfarai, system menus (minus preferences) etc.

I think Monolingual fudges with Rosetta too. All my non-universal apps had to be reinstalled before working again.

I ran monolingual and that is what started all of this mess. Monolingual isnt tweaked for intel macs yet. Ive readof other mactel users who used monolingual and are now in the same mess.
Telling us that up front would've helped! ;)

Not being the most knowledgeable about OS X, it does sound like you have something low level that is not working correctly. And it will remain this way until you replace the offending part of the OS.

Probably the simplest solution is to do a clean install. Be sure to completely erase your HD with zeros when you format.

...and of course, don't use mono-lingual until it is updated for the Intel Macs.

If you're a programmer and want to kick this bug in the balls, download the source code for Monolingual and figure out how it works...you may be able to fix things if you can figure out just what it did wrong.

But yeah, like sushi says, a re-install of the entire OS would probably be the easiest and least time-consuming way of fixing this.

Just as a matter of curiosity, does Dansk mean "Danish"? If so, funny how it's placed right below the four English language options and also happens to be the language now used by the OS.

wowzers.............

can you say "mac for life!!!"??????

I did the archive and install... problem gone... and all my apps, all my documents, all my everything is still in place!!!???!!! wow... after numerous windows reinstalls... i never saw that coming... woot for OS X!

yeah i noticed that too. if i swapped dansk for espanol... finder would skip all the english languages again and be in spanish.

Yes, Dansk for Danish, Svensk for Swedish, Norsk for Norwegian.

Oy apparently everything is not fine.

I did a complete archive and install... and with english the only language on my list... iWeb, iPhoto, iDVD, and iMovie HD are all in spanish.... but finder is back to normal.

What in the world?!?

Archive and install only reinstalls the OS and leaves your apps untouched, doesn't it? Reinstall iLife to fix the iLife apps that you mention. Or use Pacifist to extract them from the restore DVD.

Has anyone found any solutions to this that don't involve complete reinstall of the OS? We are just in the process of switching to mac and a stupid error like this could ruin the whole thing.

I am having the same problem on my boss's new Mac Book (intel). Neither of us has ever heard of Monolingual so that certainly isn't my problem here. The only app that is effected in my case is iWeb. Everything else in the computer is working fine. As soon as I try to open iWeb though all of the menus change to the Danish language. As far as I can tell everything in the system preferences is set to English. Why is iWeb the only app doing this and how might one go about fixing it?

Thanks,
Demnos

Have you tried reinstalling iWeb? Or reextracting from the restore DVD with Pacifist?
