Having an issue updating my iPhone 8+

Its on 11.0 and my backup from my 7+ is on 11.1.

When I got the iPhone 8+ I turned it on and my new phone immediately got cell service. Problem is I can't restore from my 7+ backup because the 8 is not on 11.1 and no matter how i try to update to 11.1 (through the phone or iTunes) I get the same error. I've tried to reset the phone a few times.

The 8+ was bought unlocked directly from AT&T (same carrier)

I think this may be an Apple issue. I just tried to update my iPad and Apple TV and am getting the same errors.

Like everyone is having this issue right now?
[doublepost=1510112202][/doublepost]Right now it says "Unable to verify update"

Same 3014 error w/iPhone 6. Updating from 11.0.3 to 11.1. Tried updating via USB to Mac via iTunes, and with iPhone itself (no iTunes, iPhone connected to power). Will see what tomorrow brings.

Same thing here. I work for a telco and trying to setup a new 8+ for a customer. iPhone update on the phone tells me unable to verify update" as I am not connected to the internet. Tried multiple wifi networks and 4G.

Got a new phone out of the box, same issue.

Tried updating via iTunes, I keep getting error 3014, cannot update. Tried on 2 x different computers, on different networks. Both iTunes updated to latest version. Same problem. Tried forcing restore, same issue.

Apple update server down? Will try again tomorrow

I am getting the same problem in Asia too. I tried nearly 18hrs trying on different network and different pc laptop to restore my iPhone 8 Plus but when comes to the last part of updating the “ FIRMWARE” error 3014 an unknown error occur and my phone cant be restore and hang in DFU connect to iTunes mode. Whole phone die ??? Is this really apple server issue ??? Is is all apple user no matter what model they are using are facing the same critical problem like me ? Because of this restore and updating I have sleepless night for more than 24hrs!!! If really is apple main server problem I think I have to sue apple for this!!!

[QUOTE="Whole phone die ??? Is this really apple server issue ???[/QUOTE]

I have unboxed another iPhone 8+ 64GB and had EXACTLY the same issue (on 2 different computers on 2 different internet connections) - cannot update OTA either.

Get some sleep. We'll tackle this in the morning. I will update with my progress!

I mean my phone is now stuck in DFU mode showing connect to iTunes can’t even on the phone I think is the firmware problem cos firmware was not fully installed halfway already showing error 3014 and once I unplug the cable my phone can’t on normally only keep showing connect to iTunes. Anyone face the same problem like me which stuck in connect to iTunes DFU mode?

This just happened to me. I was trying to restore my iPhone 8 Plus but got the same error.

I circumvented this buy erase all contents and settings on the iPhone and loading the restore on iTunes on the Mac. I restored successfully from a back up. Glad I’m not the only one.

What I did when it was stuck was unplug and press the power button and held it. It restarted the phone like normal.

I’m using an 8 plus factory unlocked from Apple. I’m from California.

I couldn’t restore via DFU. I got the same error as you. I restored via iPhone settings, general -> erase all contents and settings. Then after it completed the erase I used iTunes on my Mac to restore from a backup.

I couldn’t get dfu to work. I tried more than 5 times. It’s a bug I’m sure (one of many in iOS 11) that got through quality control.

you are lucky you can on back your phone as normal that is why you can go to setting to erase content . i am not as lucky as you because my phone ( iphone 8 plus ) after the very first attempt to restore from itunes through DFU mode , there is no way that i can on my phone back as normal . my phone only stuck in connect to itunes and cant even go inside anymore :(

Omg it’s stuck there?

Maybe a larger issue. Perhaps take it into apple. I restored mine because my system files was huge! But no other issues were happening to make me restore the phone.

Hi folks, I just came into work this morning, and tried to update the 2 x new iPhone 8 Plus (see my problems above) , and they worked straight away.

So Apple update server must have been down yesterday?

Same here, success on first try via iTunes.
