What apps you need depends on what you intend to do with it.

Eleven of your list hold no interest for me; and if I were to list the apps I use, many would be useless to you.

I recommend first checking out the iPad Apps forum here; http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Not only is it the best place for ipad apps discussion, but a quick search there as well as on Google should turn up any of a number of must-have or top-ten app threads.

Oh -- also check out appshopper.com for lots of info on top apps by sales and popularity and category.

Apps I found to be essential:
    GoodReader
    Evernote
    1Password
    iUnarchive
    Kindle
    Filterstorm
VLC (not sure if this is still available, but there are other apps that do the job)

Need for Speed: Shift is the best game I've played and I'm most looking forward to GarageBand.

I vote for Evernote, personally. Ubiquitous capture, ubiquitous access, powerful search, and optical character recognition for pictures is hard to argue with.

I like Simplenote on iOS devices plus Notational Velocity on the Mac a lot, but I wanted to save all different types of media and Simplenote wasn't cutting it.

slingbox app (if you have slingbox that is) for tv
    some sort of remote desktop
    P vs Z
    ibook and kindle
    Youtube

Will check out hulu (never checked it out)

iPad specific ones I'm looking at getting:

    • Notes Plus Appears to be a highly rated note taking app. I'll wait till they have one of their price drops, looks like they're constantly playing with the price. And on their twitter page it looks like they purposely do one day .99 sales every so often. I'll just use some free sketch app for the time being.
    • Speaking of sketching, definitely going to get a stylus. Either the Targus one or boxwave. My parents have the popular pogo stylus and that thing sucks.
    • Netflix is the other one I'm looking forward to for ipad
    • LogMeIn although not sure if it would be worth the price tag
    • Some ssh terminal app

Ones I have on iphone and looking forward to using on ipad are Simplenote and Evernote (Been gravitating towards Simplenote for most things but still use Evernote occasionally) and I made sure to grab up VLC while it was in app store so I can play mkv files. Twitter and a couple others I'm forgetting at the moment.
