iOS Getting from first tabbaritem to the second

hi,

first off all i am quite new to iphon and apple programming, sp please be kind.
i am also gernam, so i am sorry about my english.

i an setting up a small app here and my basic navigation is is based on a
UITabBarController.
Now i can allredy use the buttons on it to switch between the three views that belong to the 3 menue points ( TabBar Buttons ).

but what i would like to do is:
on the view of menuepoint nr.1 there is a button that should activate menue point nr.2 of the tabbar menue when it is pressed... so the button needs to tell
the controller that the current selected menuepoint is X.

is this possible ?

Alternatively:

yourTabBarController.selectedIndex = 2; // Or whichever...
