Hey, I'm new to the forum, very frustrated, and hope this is the place to solve my problems.

I have a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MBP with the GeForce 8600M GT and 4GB ram.

I've tried using VMWare Fusion 2 to use Windows, but when I try launching L4D, it tells me that my video card is not recognized and the game fails to start. I also tried using CrossOver Games, and with that, I can actually play the game, but I can't see any of the menus, the choppiness makes it impossible to play, and I still get the notification that my videocard is not recognized.

I went to the nVidia site and downloaded every Windows driver for my card, but none of them worked, also saying they either didn't recognize my hardware or were not compatible.

Help! I don't wanna go back to PC for this game!

vmware is a virtual machine that emulates the hardware that you have. Which basically means that it isn't using the graphics card to its fullest extent. The only solution to this is to boot into bootcamp, which I do, and play the game. It runs very well, btw, and I use a 2006 c2d macbook pro with the radeon x1600.

Did Steam recognize your hardware after that? And did you have to update your drivers?

Bootcamp includes all of the drivers for Windows, just insert your Leopard DVD after booting into Windows. L4D works perfectly in Bootcamp. Don't ever try to play decent 3D games in VMWare (unless you set DX version to 7 or 8 and set to lower settings, but that's not fun).
