You could also deactivate iMessage on the iPhone before you pop the SIM into the 640 and it should deactivate that way too. Either way works though.
 
Mine auto deactivates when I move my sim from the iPhone to my Lumia.
 
When I switched my personal SIM briefly to Note 4, I did all that. Deactivated on the website and turned off iMessage, but none of that worked for me. I would get individual messages but group messages seldom worked. I ended up putting my personal SIM back on the iPhone 6 Plus and use Note 4 strictly for work.
