Getting Mail behind Work Firewall

Does anyone have any ideas on how to configure my Mail.app so that I can access my mail from behind my work's restrictive firewall? I have the Proxy Server IP address and am using Authoxy to access the web, itunes, ichat etc, with no problems, but I am thinking that the relevant ports for Mail are blocked?
