I hate Safari. Just not functional for what I like to do.
Its all about firefox 3 for me. Fast, most plugins still work... good stuff.

Definitely get 4gb RAM, you can get it from newegg for like $65 (I paid $700 2 years ago :()
DO NOT waste your time with 3gb/mismatched ram. There is no point when its so cheap. Spend $2000 on a laptop, save $20 and lose performance, no point.

you only lose performance if you need more ram than you have....

otherwise its paying more money for nothing at all

entirely dependent on his usage

also, i use firefox all the way. love the extensions

I'm typing this from my new MBP! On Safari!

Now I've got to install Office, Firefox (no harm in having both), and figure out what everything does lol. It's wonderful though! No yellow tint, no dead pixels, none of the stuff others have said they had. I was worried I might get a lemon, but it looks a-okay!

Now to transfer my iTunes, Word docs, etc..... oye.

I'm going to order the 4 GB of RAM asap, and probably the $30 cooling mat... it's cheap and can't hurt.

It's going to take some getting used to the keyboard/right-click and the multi-touch. I love it all, it's just completely different from my Toshiba's trackpad.

Within 5 minutes I found that you can have it rotate wallpapers... SWEET!

Thanks again to everyone for their advice!

The only real question I need answered now is whether or not a cooling mat is worth the 30 bucks?

I just got mine in May. I've been using smc Fan Control. When the fans are on high, the temps hover around 120 F. Then again, mine sits on my desk. If I had it sitting on my lap, I would recommend something--if nothing else, you keep your body from absorbing the emanating heat.
There's someone who's been testing various mats. You might want to check out the results of those tests. AFAIK, the poster has already said "nyet" to one already.
