I'm kind of new to the Mac world and don't understand how everything works just yet. I love my Macs and have pretty much converted everything over to a Mac.

Here's my question. I have a imac that is my main computer. This is the computer I use to sync my iphone now.

When I got my MBP I plugged in my iphone to charge while I was on the road and that's when I learned that I could only sync to one computer for apps and stuff.

So how am I going to get the apps, pics, videos and music on to my ipad? Isn't going to want to wipe out what I have now? I'm just not real clear on how this all works. Thanks for your help.

You can sync multiple devices to your Mac. Each device is independent so, for example, if you delete "Pic A" from your iPhone, but keep it on your iPad, it will remain that way. Deleting "Pic A" from your iPhone won't delete it from your iPad.

This is different that being able to sync a device (iPhone, iPad, Touch, etc) on multiple Macs, which, as you found out, you can't do.

Just plug that badboy in and it'll sync everything automagically.
