Getting new iPhone tomorrow and trade-in

I am getting the X tomorrow and have a backup of my old ATT iPhone. I am switching over to Verizon with the X and need to trade in my old ATT iPhone to Verizon for a $200 credit. Should I perform a restore to the X before going to the Verizon store just to make sure I have a good restore before giving them my old phone? Will they still be able to port my number/activate the X if I already performed a restore to it?
