My Epson printer is connected to my PC (windXP) by USB. My new iMac is networked via ethernet and linksys. I can share files between the two computers and have shared the printer on the PC. Jobs sent from the Mac produce only nonsense, endless numbers and letters...page after page until I cancel the job on my PC printer software. The drivers for my printer are on my iMac. what next?

A similar thing happened to me on my HP printer.

When I plug it into my mac, it prints random exerts from the document over hundreds of pages:mad:

There isn't really a lot you can do at the moment, although it would have helped if you'd included the printer model. Are you sure that you have the new drivers for Leopard? (if you are running Leopard)

In my case, turns out the printer was so outdated they weren't producing drivers anymore, so I'd double check that you have the correct ones before you go any further.
