getting pc's to show up in finder on macbook

    i just installed leopard and then ilife 06 of of install cds and the computer working great (blackbook from 06) but for some reason non of my pc's show up in network. I went to my girlfriends house and on her network i got all the computers to shw up automatically. what gives?

    sometimes my pcs show up and some times they dont, its weird.

    i just used "connect to server" and put in the ip addres and now the shared folders show up.

    Check your workgroup settings.

    You might want to make sure that all of your computers are in the same workgroup. (System Preferences > Network > Advanced > WINS )

    All the computers on your network have to be in the same workgroup for them to automatically see each other.

    On a PC you can (right-click "My Computer" > Properties > Computer Name > Workgroup)

    Mac computers will find each other via bonjour but OSX uses samba to mimic the windows file sharing and discovery protocols so your workgroup will only affect your ability to see other PCs.
