My coworker inherited an old iPod touch from his daughter and wanted to get the photos off of it. However my MacBook Air refuses to do anything with it saying the data is corrupted. The iPod works fine and shows all 5000+ photos.

It's iOS 3.x.x. See above for photo. How can I help my coworker ? He says when he goes to update it says all data will be lost.

Thanks!

I'm assuming both iPhoto and Image Capture are showing that the data is corrupted?

Another option would be to email the photos to yourself from the device, but that would be tedious for so many of them.

I only have iPhoto on my Mac. I'll look into image capture. iPhoto just shows no photos. iTunes said data was corrupt but I think it doesn't know how to talk with iOS 3?

How new is your computer? I thought every Mac was still shipping with Image Capture.

Early 2015 MacBook Air. I do have Image Capture on my Mac (just checked). Thank you for your response, I'm kinda "newish" to Mac - switched to it last year. I can use Image Capture to get photos off of devices? I'll give it a try.

Photos kept asking me to authorize the computer on the iPod Touch ---- to which the iPod Touch showed nothing on its screen.

So got the owner's permission - we're updating it to iOS 5.1.1 - but iTunes let us know that all the data will be lost. But owner is ok with that - spent a few months taking photos off manually one by one.

It's installing now - and will be used as a media device in a car for my coworker's 2+ hour drive (one way). :p

Thanks for the help all. Kinda cool seeing something this old being used. I'm amazed that the battery still works and is going strong.
