I'm not clear that the OP's new camera also has to be a phone; for content creation $999 buys a pretty fine camera with a big glass lens. You can't beat a big glass lens with any amount of fancy electronics. But if a camera phone is needed then I say get now what you need now. Sure the iPhone 14 line will be alleged to have x% faster processor and y% better cameras, but there's no end to that game and the iPhone 15 will be z% better yet.
currently many good budget cameras are out of stock and that's the reason why I'm considering an iPhone 13 Pro, I already do have gear which would work with both a phone and a camera

it
You're a content creator who needs a camera, so you're obviously already using one... What is your current camera for making content?
it's an old camera, Rebel T2I/550D and even my phone isn't that good it's an OnePlus 8 and it has bad video quality overall

Just get it now and update if the 14 Pro is so astoundingly good you can't resist. The video recording capabilities of the current model are very good and either match or far exceed the capabilities of the devices most people on YouTube are probably using.

From a content creation perspective, I don't think many people are currently watching videos in 8K and I don't think that is likely to change in the future (I don't even think many people are currently watching in 4K, for that matter.) Further, the size of 8K recordings is probably still a nightmare to work with.
yes and this is also my reasoning as well, I don't have the workflow to edit 8K Footage so I might as well just get something which fits my needs

I would still get the iPhone 14. Supposedy better selfie camera with autofocus and maybe better video with the new sensor. You don't have to output 8K to viewers but 8K capture can help with editing later on for all sorts of things like crops, etc. so I say go Phone 14!

Also I’m pretty sure you will be able to edit in-phone in 8K if they have it, then output in 4K/HD to your editor that way.

Took the plunge and ordered a 13 Pro. As good as the 14 Pro will probably be, I came to the conclusion that it won't be toooooo much of an upgrade (he says now) and I get to save some cash in the process once I sell off my 11 Pro.

Arrives tomorrow.

Best time to buy an iPhone is right now - before the new ones debut.
Why? Because it’ll be running a mostly mature version of iOS 15 right off the bat.
If you’re smart, you won’t install iOS 16 on it until this time next year - when many of the bugs have been fixed.
