I can't believe OmniFocus hasn't been mentioned yet. David Allen recommends it on all Apple devices if you have them.

It's literally the best app i've ever purchased on any device and use it daily, more than any other app.

That's my fault. I titled the thread "getting things done," because I literally meant "getting things done," and I foolishly put GTD as an acronym without realizing how strong a following David Allen has. I apologize for the misleading title.

I have no problems with task management. I have no interest in listing things I need to get done. And, I certainly don't want to spend 40 dollars to get a program to tell me what I already know. My problem is that sometimes it is tough to know how to actually do what I want with the iPad, especially since it has a reputation for being primarily for content consumption.

Anyways, that seems to be a good program, and I hope that anyone who got here looking to implement David Allen's ideas on the iPad will take note of your recommendation :)
