see my comments in the earlier post. i think the poster was confused about what i wanted to do. basically, pages is calling that section of the document page "footnote," which is not the same as actually inserting a footnote (at least, in this post-typewriter age).

me too! i thought he had found what i wanted. oh well. 75 footnotes in the essay i am working on today. what a nightmare it would be to hand code all of these!
