Getting Verizon iPhone X through IUP as a current T-mobile customer?

I am currently on T-Mobile, but I intend to switch to Verizon sometime soon (or at least have the option to do so) so I would like a CDMA iPhone X. The woman I spoke to from Apple told me that this isn't possible. Any workaround? Seems silly that I'd need to buy a T-Mobile phone.
