I don't think Gevey Pro keeps the unlock after a power-down/reboot. No seller on ebay claims that and one seller even stats "...in order to stay unlock it needs to be with the phone. If you switch off your iPhone or battery drains out, you will lose unlock and you need to follow the entire unlocking process again."

polzii, I was told specifically that 'Gevey Pro' does support keeping the unlock after a power-down/reboot. I can't confirm it as I don't have one. I may grab one after I try out the Rebel SIM, which definitely supports that.

Can you please direct me to your source. It was reported as such (Gevey Pro is untethered) initially, but all the later corrections seemed to indicate it was not so. Im  now.

Has anyone here unlocked their iPhone at the same time as they are installing a brand new micro-sim? I am finding it impossible to activate/unlock my new micro-SIM with my AT&T iPhone.

In other words, I have come to a country outside of the US with an iPhone that is locked to AT&T. But I am not able to use it because when you buy a SIM to get service in a foreign country, you have to activate the SIM, but I am not able to activate the SIM because my AT&T iPhone is locked. The Gevey unlock procedure is not working because I keep getting messages popping up that my SIM needs to be unlocked/activated and it disrupts the process. But I cannot activate the SIM because my iPhone is locked.

It's a Catch-22-ish kind of thing. :(

hey ho i have a problem with my gevey..
i've done it twice before and it always worked with a few tries.
but now i mustve done it about 20 times without it working. i get to the 'searching' part after i get the 'no sim card installed' but it just says no service instead of my carrier.
i've tried turning 3g on and off and data roaming too but it doenst seem to matter.. any ideas on what could be going on? should i reset the phone or will that not make a difference? thanks..

i bought one gevey at sunsky.when plug the sim into the phone.it doesnt show me the message to call 112 .do u thing that sim is broken???

make sure you follow the instructions as shown at www.applenberry.com
also, try to reinsert the sim tray and both gevey and sim card have to be flushed.

Good luck

Did you use the itune first to activate your ip4? After that, it should not be a problem to unlock it with a gevey sim card. Follow the instructions from www.applenberry.com more details.

My iPhone itself is already activated.

The problem is that when you buy a new SIM (in Europe at least) they come with a PIN that you have to type into your phone to unlock/activate the SIM.

So I am wondering how to activate my SIM since it seems to require that my iPhone not be locked (to AT&T) first, but in order to unlock my iPhone I seem to need to have an activated SIM first. The procedure for Gevey unlock does not work because it is constantly being disrupted by notifications that my SIM needs to be unlocked.

hey guys i have a problem with the gevey sim after using it for a couple of weeks. my phone died and when i powered it back up the unlock wouldnt work. it went as far as i flicked the airplane mode and the 'no sim card installed' came up, the phone searched for a signal but it never worked.

after a zillion tries i restored the phone and updated it to 4.3. i tried again and the accept screen comes up, i type in 112 and flick on airplane mode but i dont get any 'no sim card installed' blip.

i've followed a few instructions and i've tried a few methods (3g on and off data roaming on and off, wi fi on and off ect.) but nothing seems to work. does anybody have an idea what might be going on? i mean if the accept thing is coming up when i turn it on the gevey sim card is working.. could it be a problem with my sim? i've positioned it a million times too so im pretty sure it's alright..
any ideas would be appreciated as im mos def going insane trying to unlock it.
thanks!

Wondering if you ask your buddy's phone or the store's phone to activate your sim, once the sim has been activated, you may try it again with Gevey.

after you've tried so many ways but still doesn't work, i'd get another gevey or rebel sim card, or another prepaid sim card to test it out. You can get a gevey sim card for less than $15 or less online.
Good luck!

Try this, hopefully it will resolve your gevey issue (copy and paste from a blogger):

Q: I get "No SIM" after I put my SIM card in the phone with Gevey.

A: Assuming both your SIM and Gevey are working, the underside of your MicroSIM may be touching the chip on the SIM interposer and shorting it. Cut away some more to give enough clearance between the SIM and the chip.

I am interested in how this gets resolved, I have not purchased a gevey yet as I was thinking about this exact scenario.
Since I have to 'activate' the European pre paid sim with the PIN before using the phone. I can see this being an issue... please keep us updated

In my experience (with the specific pre-paid European sim I use) I don't think that would work because it prompts you to enter a PIN every time you insert the SIM into the phone. So even if you 'activate it' in a different phone, once you enter the SIM back into your phone it will prompt you for the PIN again, its not a one time activation per se, you have to enter the pin every time you insert the card into the phone....

Most definitely. Unfortunately, however, at the moment I think it's going to be a while because I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do. I went to the Vodafone store and no matter how much I tried to explain that I wanted them to use one of their phones or whatever would work to activate the SIM for me, they just were confused and it just generally appeared to be something completely out of the realm of possibility. Part of the problem was that even the best English-speaker there still didn't have very good English (and I don't know Italian yet). But I also felt even if there had been no communication difficulties whatsoever, they still may not have been allowed to unlock the SIM for me.

Gevey sim apn help !!

I am running my Gevey SIM on T mobile USA with 4.2.1 and 03.10.01. I get full T mobile bars but cant get the internet to work. I have been using these three APN extensions with no luck

wap.voicestream.com

internet2.voicestream.com

epc.tmobile.com

can someone help

tempting..too bad that it seems you cannot use it with prepaid European SIM cards...so doesnt help me much

you will not find $20 for this turbo sim anywhere

I got mine for $20.00 (plus shipping of course) at http://www.modchipstore.com/iphone-4-unlock-16490.html

Works like a charm. I did not have to repeat steps when I lost signal on numerous ocassions (bad cell towers / lack of cell towers where I work) and I haven't looked back. Got my iPhone 4 on a prepaid plan now, since my contract was up.

So thankfully, you can get it for $20.00, I don't know how they could charge $75 or $160.00 like they did when it first came out.

if the problem is about the pin code maybe u should do this
italian sims come with a pin code and a puk code.
you should try to put the sim card to an other phone not the locked iphone, digit then the pin
code. so now you can use ur sim card with that phone, go to security settings of the "other phone" and disable
the pin code on ur sim card. the phone will probably ask you to digit the pin again in order to
disable it.

after that u iNsert the no pin-sim card on ur iphone, and you shouldnt have problem
with the pin code pop ups.

i donno just a thought

I'm sure if you take it into the carriers store, they'd be glad to activate it for you on one of the phones at the store. Just say something like you're having problems activating and don't have your phone on you at that moment.

Edit: Oops just saw that you've already tried this. I'm sure there's a way to get it done (maybe at a different store) because there's no requirement for a sim to be activated on one particular phone.

Hey guys,

I've cleaned the contacts and the SIM, but still, I can't get the welcome screen to show!

I've posted a video on youtube to ask the guys at applenberry.com wether for a refund or solution.

Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tP7kj-g-Q3g

One thing that was emphasized on Chinese websites, is that you should not insert the sim tray before you power on the phone.

You should turn on the phone, when the welcome screen comes on, you slide the bar, then at the same time you push in the sim tray. The Gevey welcome message should show after several seconds.

Maybe you can give that a try.
