being that the 13" does not come with a native anti-glare solution, has anyone experimented with Anti-Glare screens for the 13" MBP? Is there a particular brand thats superior than the others? What are some recommendations?

i've seen a few people using those stick on plastic protectors and they all sucked bullocks. most of them had air bubbles and they made the picture look a lot more fuzzy. i heard moshi has a decent no glue solution stick on thing, but never saw one in real life.

thanks for the replies guys. really. shes about to purchase the MBP in a couple hours at the Apple Store. will update with photos once purchase is complete.

one more question:

do any of these MBP's they sell at apple store come built in with SSD card? If not, would they be able to install SSD card in place of the 5400/7200rpm HDD on the spot?

On the spot no. You don't want he SSDs Apple uses anyway.

She definitely does not need an SSD. From your description, she seems to be the antithesis of a power user.

I'd get a SSD for piece of mind. I've gone through way too many HDD laptop drives :(

guess you don't live near a frys?

yeah, but money is not an issue for her, as she will not be purchasing it on her own. it will be a family gift.

that being said, yeah, shes not a power user, but having an SSD would give me and her piece of mind as there are no moving parts, and the likelihood of HDD failure for 5400/7200rpm drives are much higher while in transit than an SSD card. Not to mention the marginally improved power conservation you get out of the drive is better than a spinning platter. good point nevertheless Tmacfan4321.

i do live near multiple fry's. im just a car drive away from Apple HQ! i could pick up some SSD cards from there, but will wait when they have the X-25 Value SSD cards on sale.

well if you like the net book concept but hate the performance have you considered an ipad? they get 3g and are amazingly fast with some decent games and editing abilities, but the mabook pro base 13" is what i would reccomend the aluminum is a nice feature and the sd card slot IS HEAVAN for importing photos/ video in small or large quantities, the macbook in white is decent but i love the durability of the aluminum and the sc card slot!! and it comes with a bit more ram which is great for everything =D haha lmk if you have any questions

im actually an iPad owner, and she has used many times. She likes it, but she sees it more as novelty device than a primary computer, which is pretty true.

for her requirements, ever thought about the Macbook Air?

she knows a couple people with airs, they seem to have problems with it all the time so shes wary of getting one. personally for me, i was a bit unimpressed with macbook air specs, and i don't believe there has been a refresh of the air in quite some time.

she ended up with 13" MBP. thanks everyone! will probably install SSD drive later on in the future.
