Normally I use use jdownloader to download youtube videos and such. The destination folder is on a portable hard drive. Recently I downloaded a large amount of videos but the hard drive wasn't connected. Jdownloader created a volume with the same name. as in it was called sam's, and jdownloader said it was putting the files here, but in reality it wasn't connected. I was able to re-open jdownloader, plug the drive in and solve the issue. however, when i look for a destination folder now (i can find the correct drive) it says there is "Sam's" and another named "Sam's1". Now Sam's1 (registered as Sam's on the mac in finder and everywhere else) is the actual drive and the other is one the app made up when the original wasn't connected. I can download to the right destination fine, but i think somewhere on my mac is the destination jdownloader created with the files situated there. Any idea where they'd be anyone? taking up a few gbs
Take a look at Disk Inventory X, OmniDiskSweeper or GrandPerspective to see where your HDD space went to. Or use Spotlight.
Do you know the name of one of the files in the folder? Do a search for that file (using EasyFind, freeware). The folder is likely somewhere in the User folder, checked the Downloads folder? If searching doesn't work try OmniDiskSweeper.
I know the names. the files aren't coming up in spotlight. first thing i tried. found it with disk inventory x. thanks so much
