Originally I purchased two HomePod as home speakers for music and movie sadly both are done

They suffer from ghost touching

HomePod "ghost touch" (randomly pausing, playing, or activating Siri) is a known hardware defect in 2nd Gen HomePods and HomePod Minis, often due to a faulty top touch panel

It doesn’t matter if you unplug them reset them it doesn’t matter still there the issue …

Since I was not gonna wait for Apple to release a new one anytime soon I decided to switch to

WiiM Sound Smart Speaker it has a touchscreen and lite version basically no screen no controller..

It looks identical to apple probably direct competition.. it doesn’t support AirPlay also there’s no voice command either unless you remote …

Found a way to make AirPlay work would do more testing before deciding to keep her or not ..

One of my minis just started recently doing this. I just ordered a new one to re-do the bedroom setup.

The thing is, this specific mini was knocked down a few times over the years by my cat, so this could've affected things. Don't know though.

Posted in another thread… I’ve owned 10 HomePods since the introduction of the first generation years ago. I absolutely loved all of them until a little over a year ago, when one of my mini died due to the ghost touch issue. It just started playing music at random times of day/night. Since then, 2 more minis and a full size 2nd gen have also died this way. Latest was just a few weeks ago with the full size.

All in all 4 out of my 10 have now died over the past year.

I have 2 minis (1st gen) and one of them has started doing the same . I have made a complete reset it but it didn't help . I don't have  Music and have no idea why it plays music I don't own .

Or just go to accessibility settings and configure it to ignore repeated touch inputs. Since I really don’t use the touch input, this solved the problem for me.

I tried that but it didn't work for me either. One of my 1st generation HomePod is dead , no problem ( Yet ) with the other one .
