Two writers from the US version of The Office have been recruited to write a third instalment of Ghostbusters, according to trade newspaper Variety.

Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky's hiring is seen as a sure sign the long-mooted comedy will finally be made.

Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel saw Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as bumbling scientists who rid New York of paranormal threats.

It is hoped the new film will reunite the original cast.

Columbia Pictures has declined to comment on whether a third Ghostbusters was in development, Variety reported.
BBC.

Could be great, could be dire 😱

I have my fears, but I know I will see it. It's GHOSTBUSTERS.

Now I want to watch the first two back to back tonight.

Lets see the recent trend

Rocky
Rambo
Indiana Jones

mmm doesn't bode well for Ghostbusters.

But I will still watch it either way.
Don't forget Transformers and the new upcoming Star Trek flick.

When was the last time Hollywood had an original idea?

Never. Every story's already been told anyway.

As long as they use the old theme song, I'll watch it. Plus, think of what the Stay-Puft marshmallow man would look like with today's graphics. Awesome.😉

from everything i'd have heard the game that is being worked on is supposed to basically be Ghostbusters 3 since a movie couldn't be made, nor could they get everyone in on it... one of the guys just didn't want to do anything with it anymore from what i remember too

Dan Aykroyd wrote the original screen play, so I would think any new script would need his approval. He has OK'd the new video game but not sure about GB3.

I'm excited about the remake of When Worlds Collide. While the original was only so-so (1950s special effects just weren't that great, even with Ray Harryhausen), the book was fabulous. Let's hope Stephen Sommers and Steven Spielberg do a bang-up job.

Tick tock tick tock tick tock...

Is Hollywood going to ever have an original idea again?
