no

they have never seen a LIVE giant squid before... prior to this the only ones seen were dead or real close to it.

i also think this is cool because just a few short decades ago, people were calling this a mythical creature, just like bigfoot, nessie, etc... we'll see what show up next.

I know what you mean, but your phrasing there made me laugh.

Anyone remember what aquarium used to have a 50ft stuffed giant squid hanging from the ceiling? Talk about impressive. I remember seeing it when I was little and thought it was the Shed Aquarium in Chicago but I couldn't find it last time I was there.

You might have been right, aquariums, zoos, and museums move exhibits from town to town.

They might have moved it as they did do some renovations. However I don't think it was a moving exhibit, it was quite securely attached to the ceiling in a permanent exhibit room and moving it would NOT be easy.

Giant Squid are supposed to have a very high ammonia content. Don't think they would taste very good.

Yea, but calamari so so fried I bet you couldn't taste it over the grease.

A few years back, a marine biolgist caught some live giant squid in their larval stage. Does that count? ;)
