Have avatar GIF's been disabled? I tried to change mine and it was static. Also, I seem to remember seeing them quite often but can't remember the last time I have now. Have these been disabled?

Avatars can be uploaded from GIFs but the new forum software does not allow animated GIFs.
Animated avatars aren't entirely disabled; I've found that uploaded GIFs appear as static images on forums and complete animations on profile pages and user info cards.
And on forum threads for me, but that's because I'm browsing with my Retina avatar script enabled, which pulls the large version shown on profiles. Nice animation, by the way.
